Vehicle udner 3 cylidners can operate under a TNC

As you have now one of our writers wrote about this topic and this had caused commotion to the ride sharing community. (you can read the article vehicle under 3 cylinder soon to Uber off). As the owner of this blog, i needed to verify it my self since i also got a 0.8 L vehicle under my fleet.

I went to the main office of LTRB and asked about the full details. Well they said that at first they are using the idea of the memorandum circulars 2015-004 to 2015-009 for TNVS ruling but since it is different than taxi, they created a new memorandum circular for TNC's instead.

If the TNVS is based on Memorandum Circular 2015-004 to 2015-009 all 3 cylinder engines would not be given a CPC. The only approved vehicle under the 3 cylinder engine would be Mirage G4 (Sedan) not the hatchback since it passed the public safety standards to operate as a transport vehicle, thus other vehicles such as wigo, hyundai eon and i10 are not eligible to be a public transport vehicle.

But here's the good news, LTRB had ruled that TNVS's are not under those memorandum circular, and the TNVS's are under the Memorandum Circular 2015-015 , 2015-16, 2015-17 and 2015-018 on which it states that the vehicle under the TNC's requirement could be used as a public transport vehicle and can operate under the TNC's.

Meaning that vehicle under 3 cylinders could operate as long as it is under the TNC, however they are strictly enforcing about the 2012 and up rule for 2015, If you have a vehicle under 3 cylcinders with a year model 2012 you need to have a CPC before 2015 ends, as they will not approve 2012 vehicles on 2016.

Again 3 cylinder vehicles can be used as a public transport under a TNC. We do hope that this could clear things up and we are sorry for the commotion it caused.

  4. I saw your post with the minimum requirements (dimensions, safety). I was wondering when do you think would it be strictly implemented. I'm planning to get a Fiesta 1.0 for uber and personal use. I'm wondering if I could use it for uber in the long run. Thanks for your advise.

    1. Yes fiesta is acceptable, as what we have said on this article, tnvs is not on that memorandum 2015-004, there's no restriction as long as it is okay with the tnc

  7. I know Honda City is part of the list of accepted cars by Uber but someone told me that Honda doesn't want their
cars to be use for Uber and if Honda found out that their car was used for Uber they will disable the car's
warranty. Is it true? I hope to get an answer asap because I am interested to purchase a Honda City to use it
for Uber. Can any Uber partner who is currently using Honda car say that this is not true? Thank you

    1. Hi,

Yes that's true, honda's warranty will be voided. But in case you were still going for that route, we suggest that you get a policy inssurance for commercial business transportation.

  8. I have a new 2016 Hyundai eon which is a .800 liter engine and 3 cylinder. Can I still apply it for uberx this 2016? please clarify.
Statement says " If you have a vehicle under 3 cylcinders with a year model 2012 you need to have a CPC before 2015 ends, as they will not approve 2012 vehicles on 2016."

  9. Hi,

Yes you can register your Hyundai eon. Vehicle with year model 2012 aren't accepted by uber this 2016. The minimum should be year model 2013.

  18. Hi,

There's no official statement from Uber about it but yeah the LTFRB is currently reviewing its policy about small or sub-compact vehicles.

There's a posibility about that but untill further notice it isn't implemented yet.
