We wrote an article the other day about Uber PhilippinesFebruary Incentives 2016 A Possibility and we receive a lot of mixed response. Some say that they aren’t counting on it as Uber will not ever do such thing.

Just like you, we are also hoping for it. Yes, it would be better if they do as it’ll be an extra income for us. We have friends who drive in Uber in the US Market and they are experiencing rate cuts from different cities. But as we have said there are rumors here circling about possible incentives this February, in fact, we received a news from one of our friend who’s driving in California.

Yes, Uber did throw incentives on the US Market and by that, we do hope that they will also provide us incentives here in the Philippines. It seems Uber is losing a lot of drivers in the US Market so they have offered incentives for drivers who drive and I could say it’s fairly huge but then again the question is until when?

There are rumors circling on the community that there’s a big possibility that Uber Philippines will bring back the incentives this 1^st quarter of the year 2016.

We really have no idea yet on what Incentives will Uber Philippines provides to its partners, but one thing for sure and that would be an extra income again for us partners. The rumors are spreading like wildfire and in fact, some say the story came from an Uber Philippine employee.

Rumors or not, it’s about time that Uber should bring back the incentives as there are a lot of partners who are discouraged on the low income. Well, this already had happened prior this year, every first quarter of the year Uber Philippines do provide incentives to its partners the only questions would be until when?

We received a lot of emails on how we run our Uber Philippine business. Some do ask us how we can manage our fleet?. First, you should read this article “7 tips to be a successful operator in Uber Philippines”. This article will help you if you plan to be an operator in Uber Philippines.

The majority of those concerns came from Uber Drivers being abused by their operators. We solely wrote this article to guide them up and teach them how to engage in this kind of business the right way.

Here in our fleet, we don’t take matters so lightly. We have a business plans and goals that we must reach on every timeframe we had planned, a not met target means it is a lost for us. We always make sure that everything is on the right track and taken care of especially our partners (drivers).

We always think about a lifelong partnership with our partners. Without them we aren’t moving forward, so we treat them with respect. That’s our business model.

Ask for a contract. If your operator is serious about this business, they need to protect it by having a contract. A contract that both parties agreed to. In other words, a win-win solution for both parties. Remember that you are a key to making their business grow. In exchange for the opportunity, you should do your part to make it a reality by providing your professional skill. Both parties should treat each other with respect, without it, the business model will collapse.

The contract will eliminate unwanted and questionable business practices. The contract will save the driver and the operator’s time. Some of the emails we received contain that their operator is somewhat asking for additional income deduction that will be used for car maintenance even though as the agreement would be a 60/40 share.

Understanding the 60/40 share would be the net income after all the expenses and Uber Philippines deduction fees. By that said, the maintenance deduction should be on the gross income and not by the net income, simple issues like this could be eliminated easily by having a contract.

The contract should state everything clearly including the scope of the operation and what both parties can’t do. If ever one party breached the contract, the other party could use it for legal action.

Note:

Read the contract first before signing it. Let the operator state everything so you could understand, respect his terms and if there’s a term you think you can’t agree upon, you can always counter offer that would make it a win-win situation for you and the operator.

We know how frustrating it is for the current market. Earning just small dibs when we all do so hard to convey our passengers with a 5-star service. Unfortunately, some of us experience backlash from passengers and were given low star ratings for the cause we don’t even know and worst our car suffers from those crazy but adorable passengers.

Disclaimer: We are not discouraging people who want to join Uber. Instead, we just want this to be an eye opener. If you really love your vehicle but still want to earn by driving, then you just need to be ready and open-heartedly accept that this will happen.

Uber Driver: Ma’am Sorry po! Hindi po makakadaan yung sasakyan ko, Malalim po yung baha!
Passenger: Ay… Kuya, Kaya po yan! Malalate na po kasi ako!

Well, that scenario says it all. Should we say more?

Uber Driver: Ma’am malapit na po ako sa pickup location, paturo naman po yung exact location, mali po kasi yung nasa app.
Passenger: Sige po kuya, kanan lang po kayo sa may second na kanto pag pasok ng village, then yung white gate po sa dulo, ayun na po saamin.
Uber Driver: Salamat po!

Some passengers just think, that our car is a 4x4 monster truck!

Passenger: Kuya, andito po kami sa pick up entrance ng hypermarket.
Uber Driver: Cge po, I’m on my way na po.
(2 minutes later)
Uber Driver: Ay Ma’am passensya na po, maximum of four passengers lang po ang pede sa Uber.
Passenger: Kasya naman kuya, pag di mo kami sinakay, rereport kita sa Uber!

Well some passengers do think our car is somewhat a magic hat that can fit more than it could! Wait, maybe there's a magic space on our trunk! (evil smile)

Passenger: Hello, Kuya dito po sa may yellow na gate, may ililipat lang po gamit papunta sa kabilang bahay!
Uber Driver: …

Yes, sometimes our car is really for moving a passengers home sofa, home entertainment. It's what we signed up on! Giving 5-star service including being a mover (grin)

Well, we really do love our passengers, but sometimes there are crazy people that doesn’t know how much we value our cars. Be an Uber Manila Partner Driver/Operator in Philippines and earn while you drive on your most convenient time. There are a lot of aspiring partners who have asked us about their vehicle through email. So, we decided to write an article about it for future reference of other aspiring partners.

There was a confusion last year about the LTFRB Memorandum Circular 2009-029 as it stated in that memorandum that sub-compact cars and vehicles having 1.2L engines are not allowed to convey passenger as a public transport vehicle.

Other transport groups took this as an advantage and used it as an appeal to stop the operation of the TNC’s (Transport Network Company) such as Uber Philippines and GrabCar. Later last year, LTFRB ruled it out that the memorandum circular 2009-029 are just for Taxi’s and are not applicable to TNVS under a TNC.
