Hi guys, we are back. We know it's been a while. Honestly, we lost some of the best Uber Manila Partners who always contribute to this blog. Some of them had pursued on their personal matters and some of them had already focused on new businesses (Including me the owner of this blog).



Now let's get back to the main topic, Is it still worth it to drive for Uber Manila? Well, after some of the setbacks we have experienced in the business, we decided to stay in lay low for a while. We did go back to our drawing board and re-think if we still need to continue.

Reality is, it's not as profitable as it was before as an operator but it is still as a partner. Some says operators are in the loosing end because of the LTFRB's new regulation regarding TNVS.

Hey we aren't discouraging you to try this business but the problem lies with LTFRB as they are controlling how the TNVS should be when in fact we the TNVS are providing much safer and much more comfortable service to the public than any other public utility vehicles.

Is it worth it to drive for Uber Manila?

Yes, as a partner and partly no as an operator. What we meant about that is, if you have 3 or more vehicles under your fleet, chances are it'll be harder to earn above the margin compared to a partner who drives his/her own vehicle.

Alright, our topic for this April 2017 will be the holy week, some partners have asked us if we will be driving for Uber this holy week. Our answer will be no, as we are planning a vacation for our fleet.



Don't get us wrong, we always preach to take every chance as possible to drive and earn but we have been working hard and our drivers on our fleet deserves a great vacation :)

But for real, it's one of the best time to drive in Uber despite the holiday. According to our driver's data and from the last holy week season, our income increased about 10% driving on holiday. We are surprised as you were but the data don't lie.
Most of us think that because it's holy week, there are no passengers, right? Well, not. It's the time of the year that most of the passengers may be needing more transportation, especially on Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday.

But honestly, there are many of passengers who have traveled earlier for a vacation and will be coming back from provinces to Manila and that'll be the best chance to increase your income by driving for Uber.

Of course, if you have a family, it's still the best to stay and spend the time with them but if you don't, then grab the chance and drive.

This is by the way where there are a lot of tourist from out of the country exploring Manila and could be a chance to get those foreign currency tips.

So what's the best spot to get passengers?

Yes, you read that right. Uber Manila is contacting the operators who're willing to lease their vehicles to Uber Manila. This will definitely help those operators to earn constantly and will also help new and old partner-drivers who are looking for a vehicle to drive.

How does this work?

If you are going to accept a P800 per day on a month basis for 6 months regardless if Uber is going to make money out of it or not your income would be P24,000 per month. It's all yours nothing to pay for maintenance and gasoline since Uber will shoulder it.

Again the lease price may vary and it's not yet final it could be higher than what we have written.

On this article, we'll be talking about the average income of an Uber Partner here in Manila. As you all know the business had been in an up and down situation so to be honest, that this may not be 100% accurate but at least it is near or about 90%.



After the regulations last year, there are times where the income went below P10,000 a week. In a business point of view, it is on the red margin considering the operation expense such as vehicle maintenance, gasoline and etc.

But right now it is safe to say that a partner can earn at least P2,000 - P3,000 a day or P12,000 to P18,000 a week (6 days operation).

However, income still depends on two factors. It will depend on the driver's efficiency and of course the partner's rating. Let us explain how we can come to that conclusion.

Driver's Efficiency

First of, the driver's efficiency. The income will be of course much higher compared to other partners if you have a driver who is efficient at what he does and this will point out to his knowledge in the road and of course his approach to his passengers.

If the driver is efficient, he can also save a big consumption of gasoline, and as what we have said before, saving on expense can also be an income for the partner.

Uber Partner's Rating

Second would be the partner's rating. If you still don't know, the ratings can affect how Uber select a driver within a 4-kilometer radius. Let us explain how it can affect the income stream. For example, there are 5 Uber partners near the passenger within the 4-kilometer radius, Uber system will select the best driver that can provide the best experience to its clients.

So even if there are 5 partners but 1 out 5 partners has a 5-star rating and the other 4 has 3.5 to 4.7-star rating the 5-star driver will still be chosen by the system unless that certain partner is outside the 4km radius.

Have you ever wonder? When you are just starting out and you still have a 5-star rating, there are a lot of trip request given to you? Then after you start to receive low ratings or when your ratings began to degrade, there is less and less trip request?

So pointing out on how it can affect your income would be the higher your ratings the more trips you can accomplish and the more income you could earn.

Just incase you missed it. Uber Manila launched it's hotline support number for active Uber Manila Partners. This only means that we as a partner alrrady have a direct line with inquiries or concerns regarding Uber Manila operations.

Not all partners can access the hotline for this week as this will be on a beta resting mode, but hey don't fret. Starting March 20, 2017 this feature will be avaialable to all active partners.

This is much better than waiting for a reply on their email support right? But hopefully this is much faster as this can consume a lot of cellular load or time.

Since we are busy doing our own thing and had started to operate our new fleet in Uber LA we haven’t have enough time to post our progress for Uber Manila. It’s been a crazy ride because of the legalities and all but as of the moment here’s our Uber Manila income for February 2017.


In the past few months we have sold two of our vehicles for Uber X and Uber Black so we could start a fleet in LA and at the moment we only have 4 vehicles in Uber Manila and 1 in Cebu.

Our total income for Febuary 2017 for Uber Black and Uber X is P65,104.77 net for 5 vehicles.

In our experience the biggest earning we got is from Uber Black, 28% comes from our Uber Black vehicle.

At the moment we are thinking of dropping another vehicle in Uber X so we could get a new vehicle for Uber Black.

It's really a tough roller coaster rider in the last past weeks for the business which hasn't been resolved yet and here we are with another challenge to face (for new partners).



In the recent event where LTO had announced the No Plate No Travel policy which can affect new partners or aspiring partners who's getting a brand new car for them to invest in Uber Manila will surely be affected.


That's not all, LTO also announced that No OR/CR after a week will be penalized with a huge sum and that's P10,000 for the owner and P100,000 for the car dealers. Here's the problem, it takes a lot of time before you can obtain the OR/CR the fastest would be a month and without it, you can't use your newly bought vehicle even for personal use.

It sucks as it is like the government agency "LTO" is cramming the vehicle owners since the OR/CR will originate at the LTO itself and it takes time before they release it with their reason as "back logs".
Because of their incompetence the consumers are affected with their current announcement.

We have money to buy the vehicle alright, but their agency could't release the needed papers even if we already paid for it.

So what are your thoughts about it? Affected vehicles are those released from Feb 15 onwards. It really sucks, if you ask us and intersted to be a partner and want to invest in Uber, we suggest that you should just buy second hand vehicles at least 2 years before the current year.

We've been busy for the past few weeks because we are focusing on our California fleet. We have received a lot of questions but we decided to remain silent till we get back on our track for Uber Manila.
