Some of our clients had emailed us about our point of view about the rider’s rating. Well, we think most of the new Uber drivers doesn’t care about the passenger’s rating as the ridership is a little bit low nowadays but as an uber driver, some of us do check the passengers rating before we accept the ride.

We think 30% of the Uber Drivers had experienced a terrible passenger on their uber driving career and mostly came from 3 stars or below rider ratings. We too had an awful experience with a passenger you can check the story by clicking here.

To sum it up, ratings are really important, this is how we drivers assume what type of passengers you are. Of course, sometimes we may give consideration, and most of us like to gamble like who’ll be the next jack-in-a-box.

Drivers do rate their passengers accordingly so given a rating three stars or below means that you are something, but for a four start passenger mostly you are doing okay for us, and we’ll be glad to accept your request.

In the past two years, some of our drivers have already cancelled around 80 requests because of the ratings. So be sure to respect your driver and treat them like he or she is a family. Good rating = Good passenger that’s the only logic we see when we look at your request.

What are your considerations regarding a Rider’s Ratings?

Well actually it’s just a gut feeling or if we need to make more trips, but for us, a three-star rating is a bit 50/50 and lower than that it’s a big nope.

How do you rate your passengers?

We always give the utmost respect to our passengers, and we rarely give four stars below unless they had treated us like slaves. Do also mind our doors, don’t bang it like it’s the end of the world when you are closing the door it hurts us as our beloved vehicles are experiencing pain.

Always mind the next passenger that will ride the vehicle after you, so don’t just leave your trash, you may ask your driver if he/she has a trash bin and if the driver doesn’t have one, you just need to bring your trash and throw it in a proper place.

Have you tried uberHOP yet? Well we did. Here's our own personal review for the Uber's car pooling service as a partner/driver of Uber Philippines.

uberHOP is still have a long way to go, we tried the service and also tried providing the service to the passengers. We are lucky to be one of the few providers of this service when it launched and here's our honest input to it.

Pros on uberHOP Manila service

It could generate a lot of income for a short travel time, even though most of us thought that it'll be a nightmare because of the horrendous traffic, well we were wrong. For a travel time of 15 to 20 mins you could generate as much as P600 if you have a 10 seater muv or suv.
Rules apply as 1 request for 1 seat, hitch hikers aren't allowed and thus some of the passengers did invite their friends to register in Uber Philippines to try the hop service which is a very positive business point of view.
uberHop service did increase the passenger base for the rush hour and hopefully many passengers would join the bandwagon.

Cons of uberHOP Manila service

Time allotted is too short or we could say a missed match. We do hope that Uber Philippines could change the time schedule from 6am to 9am and 5pm to 10pm or much better that if Uber Philippines could extend the time frame like 6am to 10am and 4pm to 10pm.
Sometimes we experience having only 2 to 3 passengers. But hopefully Uber Philippine's marketing team would invest on promoting the service than inviting new drivers to join the system.
We asked some of the passengers if they could choose a cash basis for uberHop service and they told us that only card or credit are available upon choosing the service. We do hope that Uber Philippines could integrate a cash payment option for uberHop too like we could experience in Uber X and Uber Black.

Our personal thoughts about uberHop service

As what we have said, uberHop service has a long way to go, but if uber Philippines do invest on marketing the service it'll surely help their business and also us in the long run. But as of now, we experienced 2 out of 10 trips having 2 or three passengers per trip.

Uber Philippines officially announced the launch of UBERHop service. Manila is the third major city that has this kind of service aside from Toronto (Canada) and Seattle (USA). We all know that Manila has one of the worst traffic congestion in the world UBERHop will help riders and partners by providing a win-win solution.

What is UBERHop and how can this be a win-win solution for Uber Partners?

UBERHop is much like a carpooling service that will have a fixed route, it is basically going to Point A to Point B and vice versa. The fixed fare price for every passenger would be P75 and the good news is UBERHop’s route are only from Makati to BGC.

How can this help you as a partner? Well since most of the passengers want to save money from traveling instead of hailing an Uber X service, they’ll just use the Hop’s service as it’ll save them more than 75% since there’s no surge pricing. Keep in mind that UBERHop’s passenger is on a 1:1

ratio, meaning one pax is equaled to P75.

If you have a 4 seater sedan that would equal to P240 since P75 (base fare) – 20% (Uber) fee will be P60. We all know that Makati and BGC is a prime location that has many passengers that are going back and forth. We here at the uber driver blog thinks this will help partners to lessen the downtime and on top of that, you’ll earn P240 per trip going from Makati to BGC and another P240 going from BGC to Makati.

The only question is, how much can you earn from this new service? We still haven’t got an idea but we are going to try it for sure to provide a detailed insight to you guys.

What do you need to know about UBERHop service in Uber Philippines?

Just remember that one request is only for one passenger, if you have a 10 seater MUV/AUV/SUV then you’ll earn more than a sedan of course.

Each UBERHop request can accommodate one person, Additional riders need to request their own Hop service in order for them to get on the vehicle.

Weekdays – 7 am to 10 am (excluding non-working holidays) and 4 pm to 9 pm.

We always give our drivers a checklist every week. As a part of the service, the car should be clean, and again presentable.

We always encourage our client to provide feedback about their experience on their current ride. We know that now-a-day Uber has this client feedback feature that partners can see. But we do it traditionally, in order to provide an after sales service to our clients.

When the client provides feedback about their recent ride on our vehicles, we make sure to ask them if they enjoyed it and if ever they are willing to ride again we can arrange another ride, or if they have a preferred vehicle and etc. This really works like a charm. When we did this, we retain 80% of our clients and still growing to this date.

UBER Drivers Protesting In Major US Cities How Will It Affect Uber Philippines?

In the past few days, Uber drivers in major cities of the United States are protesting because of the recently fare cut. Most Uber drivers are now driving .35 cents per mile in some cities. The recent fare cut angered many Uber drivers in New York City.

It’ll be a massive protest against Uber as drivers from the major cities had united and they said that they’re not going to drive till Uber hear their calls regarding fare adjustments and fare increase. Some say that they aren’t earning anymore and their income from a week basis had gone dramatically lower than 50%. While Uber still claims that the fare cut could increase clients and the drivers income.

That’s not what really is happening. We’ve spoken to some partners in the US Market and they said that they hardly breaking even on the amortization and maintenance of their car. Some say that they are losing money.

They are now currently planning for a nation-wide strike that will happen on Super Bowl this coming Feb 7, 2016. Protest leaders are asking for the cooperation of all Uber drivers in the United States to join the cause for the betterment and welfare of all the Uber Drivers in the world.

How will it affect Uber Philippines and it’s partners?

Well, there are two things that could happen. First, if Uber did hear the protesters request, every city will have a fare increase and it could probably affect us too, remember when our rate was P120 (Base fare) and P4 (per minute) back when Uber had started way back 2014? It could happen or at least near it. Secondly, Uber may just ignore the protest and continue the business as usual.

Whatever happens, we are hoping for the best outcome as possible, of course, it’s really nice to know that there are partners who are willingly want to fight Uber for the cause of the others.

Despite being small in the business, it seems that small and compact cars are the trend in Uber Philippines. 9 out of 10 passengers have already ridden a small and compact car being serviced as Uber Cars. It’s really amazing as it is very cost effective as it is easy to maintain and also has a low gas consumption.

It was really a tough battle at the beginning when small and compact cars emerge from the business, they are not the usual type of sedan that the public got used to on the traditional transport industry. It was really awkward at first, we even criticized it at first since we are a fan of the bigger sedan, we promote comfort and safety. But these small cars are like giants packed with the same feature and on top of that, it also had an advantage of lessening the operating expenses.

We asked the current market about how they think about the small and compact cars in Uber Philippines. 850 out of 1000 in our list answered and here’s what majority had said.

"Some say that the small and compact cars are cute yet comfortable. Most of the compact cars have a good air conditioning it is really cold since it is just small. It’s really good if you are alone but if you have friends riding Uber it’s a no but otherwise, it’s really awesome."

I guess Mirage is the top when it comes to small and compact cars as most of the passengers on our list that we asked did say they liked Mirage better than any other compact cars. Second to that would be Toyota’s Wigo.

Either way, in the end, the market right now is not relying on the class but the safety and efficiency going from point A to point B, it really did improve a lot considering the first year of Uber here in the Philippines. Small cars will dominate the business as it is much more cost effective and the small compact cars prices are much cheaper than the usual sedans being used in the transportation industry.
