NBI and Police clearance is now a must for professional driver's before they can renew their professional driver's license, according to DOTC.

We can imagine how hard this can be for the part of Uber Drivers, having to go through long lines of waiting and another expense for this new rule.






How can this affect UBER Manila Drivers?

Just imagine about a week or so of processing the needed additional requirements for professional driver's license renewal. Meaning the driver couldn't go online or drive their operator's vehicle/ their vehicle because of the processing time for the new requirements.

NBI clearance is only good for about a year and police clearance are only good for 6 months. We really think that this is only a plot by the government to earn more money from the citizen. On the good side, this will eliminate the drug addict, rapist or such drivers off the streets or drivers that really doesn't deserve to be serving to serve the public commuters.






DOTC spoke persons says before implementing the new rule, they have consulted the public. This really didn't make any buzz till it was implemented, this made a lot of transport groups file petition for a restricting order in order to give time to study the new rule if it really fits or interest of the public safety or if the government are just going to pocket the money.

In a few weeks we are expecting the end of Uber's experimental cash payment.

So far the data's that we have gathered seem positive, a lot of riders are enjoying the cash payment, but few partners experience a bit of a problem regarding uber's cash payment.






Some says it has a glitch or somewhat not really clear. One thing for sure, UBER Manila will roll it out soon, this will increase it's market.

But will the partners be happy about it? At this point, it is really 50/50, some partners are still concerned about safety issue, and some partners are happy that this move will increase the market and that means an increase on their income.

Well after days posting the article written by EP about "Uber is losing a lot of quality drivers because of the no incentive scheme" EP and us received the same SMS message stating that our account is on the verge of deactivation as the reason Uber said that we are not driving for 21 days now, on which we still do drive at least 5 trips per day.






We thought that this is how Uber retaliates on its partners, every time they know a partner had done something negative for UBER, Uber retaliates on them.  We thought it's too good to be true, we have heard numerous partners who have experienced that but of course there's no proof until someone sent us this video about an UBER Partner in San Francisco. Is it just us or this is the damn truth? We are not really in the negative side, as we believe that Uber Manila can still help partners to earn extra income, but if this is how Uber retaliate to its partners, i really don't think that this is how you treat a partner that is doing the hard work for you.

For the past few weeks, we are hearing complaints about abusive drivers and etc. Some passengers say that they had been riding Uber since its start but the past few weeks was the worst they ever had. Complaining about the quality drivers are no where to be found.






We did a quick research about this and we found out that most quality drivers are not driving for Uber Manila anymore. Uber is losing quality drivers and if this continues, the service will never be the same again.

It all boils in one point, since Uber Manila removed its incentives quality drivers or experienced partners know that driving for Uber might not be a good idea anymore, the money they'll earn will surely not be worth it or not even gonna break even for the wear and tear plus the gasoline that they consume while Uber gets 20% clean without even doing hard work.

Some resorted to keeping their regular clients serviced outside Uber, and yes they'll get 100% of it than 80%. I think that was a smart move, than killing your car for something it is not worth to do so. But of course Uber is still a great way to earn extra income, especially if there's a surge, but nowadays some partners feel that surge is being controlled, and passengers are also getting smarter by waiting for the surge to wear off. If this really continue, Uber might move to another city to focus on where they can earn more just like Uber Cebu.

Uber Cebu will start on late November 2015.

In the following weeks Uber will be launching its service in Cebu City, it will be Uber's first approach to service our visayan brothers living in Cebu. This expansion is not yet clear if Uber will succeed competing for GrabCar's market in Cebu City.

Unlike here in Manila, Uber is currently dominating the market and will soon launch a cash payment for the passengers. Uber Manila's cash payment is currently rolling as an experimental approach, but to what we have heard, it is currently doing well than its competitor (GrabCar).






If Uber can dominate Cebu City, it is a no brainer that Uber will surely expand in Davao City as well. This approach will eventually gives our visayan brothers a chance to be a partner to drive with Uber. Despite of the sudden promotional incentive pull off, Uber Manila is still doing great, it even increased the rider base that all the partners are currently having.

It's been a few days since Uber Manila rolls out its cash payment. Although there are some confusions, according to some of the partners, but it is currently doing well than the first day it was rolled out.

This might be promising, we received a lot of email from riders and asking when will this be implemented on the system. Honestly we don't know. We are just hoping that this uber manila cash payment experimental will be a success so that riders have another mode of payment option than paying from their credit cards.

There are some concerns regarding with Uber Manila's cash payment especially for partners and drivers. Majority can't accept the change, mostly they are saying is about the safety issue, but i guess that's not really the concern at all. We think that they are just concerned about their drivers not remitting the cash 100% and yes it would be a profit loss for the partner operators in Uber Manila.






So in other words, trust is the issue regarding with the operator's drivers and not the partner's security issue for the cash payment. For our riders security and safety, none will be compromised, some just think that this will turn out to be like a taxi service that drivers won't hand over the change.

Yes that might be a possibility, but if the operators and drivers are just educated well about this program, we won't ever go through that situation. I think all the operators should educated their drivers well so that this might not happen. What really is important, uber is doing what it can so that partners could have alot of passengers, there are many non card users here in the Philippines that wanted to try Uber but they can't because they don't have a card and this might be the solution to tap those uncharted market by Uber Manila adding a cash payment on their system.

Most partners are concerned on the following:

• Not ending the trip on time because of network or data error on some places
• You can't see if it's a cash payment or credit if you haven't ended the trip
• Partners safety
• Drivers not remitting the income to their operators

In the last couple of weeks, Uber Manila incentives are almost to non existent, only a few partners had the chance to experience Uber Manila incentives for partners.






We are hoping that this week they will be bringing back the incentives, we have heard rumors that Uber Manila staffs are asking and sending emails to its partners and asking for feedback that would work well for all the partners.

Uber Manila's Cash Payment is now rolling to some riders.

Last November 3, 2015 (Tuesday) Uber Manila already rolls its experimental cash option for some riders. It has began to test the waters of cash transaction.

Although we have heard and we experience some of the bug of this experimental cash option. Majority of the partners who received a request regarding the cash payment had encounter confusion, it seems that some riders/passengers didn't know that they have using a cash payment option.

We have experienced it first hand, we had 2 riders who have requested a ride using the cash payment option, but after the trip, they told us that they are using their Credit Card for the ride, on which on the screen it clearly shows the green box.






We asked the passengers on how they have requested the ride, and as usual they just log in to their account, and tap the screen to request. There's a major glitch for the cash payment option, it seems that Uber Manila didn't informed their passengers well enough, so that the confusion did arise on the road.

Things to remember for our beloved passenger:

• Always check the payment option, usually you'll see credit or card as an option, but now since the cash experimental payment option rolls out, some passengers have the cash payment option as default instead of the credit, or card payment.
  
• Before you request a ride, double check your rider application. As for instances, even if you opened your app to request and you can't see the uber cash payment option at first. When you try to request for a second time, sometimes the uber cash payment will be showing without you noticing it.
