hi guys did you know that the ratings given by our passangers/riders are our lifeblood on UBER?

If we get below 4.6 star we are on the verge of being cut off or being deactivated on UBER. How can we make sure that our rider will give us 5 star rating everytime they leave our car?

before that i want to confess to you guys, i did try being rude to my riders to contest if what below 4.6 rating is our limit. I reached 4.6 on which UBER Manila emailed me that if it gets lower, my account will get deactivated. I did it on purpose, I used longer routes, gasing up while the rider is still on board, and i even stop and slow down on each corner just to piss off the rider to make sure they rate me lower.

By doing so i received an email from UBER containing that i am in the verge of deactivation if my ratings goes lower than 4.6 star.

How important the ratings are?

Ratings provide the riders an ease on their trip, the higher the ratings the more comfortable the rider will be.

This might be a taboo or other partners don't know that the higher the ratings the higher the ping you'll get (more passengers yey!!).

That is really how uber works for the ratings, but i really don't exactly know the algorithym on how uber calculates it, but one thing for sure, if the rider is happy you'll receive a great rating.

Now comming back to my experience, after recieving an email from UBER i started to execute what i learned from Networking or Multi Level Marketing on how to please any person you interact with.

Here's what i did to please the passenger and in just a week my rating rose from 4.6 to 4.74 stars (better than 75% of other parters).

Always greet them

Always greet them ( good morning, good afternoon, good evening) when they call and when they enter your car. By doing this, they will feel welcomed and relaxed.

Say thanks for the compliment they say

Always say thanks to the riders when they compliment your car, even for a small details. This might also be a start of a good conversation, a rider complementing a car means he/she feel so relaxed.

Music is KING while on traveling

Some riders really doesn't want to talk, but everyone of them is listening to what you are listening on your car. I suggest that you play a soothing music on the evening and an upbeat in the morning to afternoon.

It gives them a comfortable feeling to start or end their day, even though they don't talk, you see them smiling, or feel relaxed.

I use Spotify premium for my music, on evenings i play jazz, saxophone playlist, or blues. On Mornings i play the wake up good playlist on spotify and it always doesn't let me down. Riders compliments my playlist saying that i have a great list of music in my car, i don't tell them that it's spotify's work :D

Always tell the rider about waze

Always tell the rider that you'll be using waze to bring them to their destination, and ask politely if the routes that waze provide is okay with them. Althoug sometimes waze gives a bad route, ask your rider politely and tell them " mam/sir waze did give us a bad route, can you please guide me to your destination if you know any shortcuts to make sure that you'll arrive much earlier on your destination" this works like charm, and always end your question with smile :)

Converse with your rider

If your rider is talkative then you are lucky, you won't get bored and you'll definitely get a high ratings from them. If the rider is not talkative, just let them be.

Answer your riders in a formal way, use po and opo, even if you are the owner of your car, you'll leave a good impression to your riders.

Volume Control

Some of the riders do converse on their phone, make sure to volume down your music when they use their phone. Volume down your music when there are riders conversing. This will give them the impression that you do care for them.

Notify them

Always notify your rider when you are going to begin the trip and before ending the trip. In my case, as soon as we arrive on their destination i always say " mam/sir i'll be ending the trip na po "

Say Thank You

Again after ending the trip and before you go, roll down your windows and say thank you to your rider even if they are already on their gate. Always end it with smile. I always do say thanks and i always add up " thank you po for choosing our service, i do hope you enjoy your ride, have a great night/morning/afternoon po "

well that's basically it, in just a span of a week, my ratings rose from 4.6 stars to 4.74 stars and still rising.

After it rose to 4.74 stars i got about 20% increase of ping than when my rating was 4.6 stars.

Hi guys i just want to share this article for the patrons of UBER Manila services. This is a guide on how you can make any debit card work in UBER Manila.

As you know i am a partner/driver but i am also a rider. I often write articles to help the partners/driver and aspiring partners, but this time it will be different. I want to help the riders on this part.

Are you experiencing the same when you are using your debit card? Does it says it deems invalid even though you have P500 on your debit card? In my case i am using a BPI Prepaid Card the one you can use to shop online (yes i know, i am a sucker for new tech, and i am a shopaholic and always bought online, as i find it convenient, i'll just order something and it will be delivered on my home in the next day or after two days).

Here's the story, i found out on some blog that you can use a debit card, and after using my own prepaid card, to my dismay the app says my prepaid card deems invalid. I asked the blog owner and they say that some debit cards and including my prepaid card don't work on UBER.

But since i use my prepaid card to buy online, i thought why can't i? So i emailed UBER regarding this concern. I have enough balance (as the other blog says you need to have P500 on the debit card or prepaid card to use it on UBER) i have P1000 on my prepaid card when i signed up as a rider.

I emailed them with this concern.

Hi Uber,

I have added my debit card successfully but it says my debit card seems invalid.

I don't know what's happening, I applied a promo code and i also have balance worth P1000 in my debit card.

What should i do? My promo code will end by tomorrow.

After a few hours they replied regarding my concern and this is what they have said.

I’m really sorry for the trouble accessing your account. I know how frustrating it can be when you need a ride and are not able to request a trip via Uber. No problem though - we can look into getting this sorted out ASAP.

As a security precaution, I'll need to verify that you're the account holder before I make any changes to your account. To verify, please send a picture of your photo ID as well as the card on your account with your name and only the last 4 digits showing. Take care to cover the other details of your ID and card, as we want to keep your personal information secure. With that we should be able to lift the hold on your account so you can be on your way!

I have sent them the pictures of my Personal ID and the image of my debit card (prepaid card) that clearly shows my name and the last four digit of the card. After a few hours here's what they said.

After receiving this email, i thanked them and tried to do a request and viola, i can now request and use uber with my prepaid card (debit card). I think that all debit cards can work on uber, if you receive a message on the app saying "deem invalid" i don't think that your card is invalid. Uber system just found it irregular as using a debit card doesn't have a credit automation unlike a credit card. Uber system can't charge it automatically so it is flagging it as invalid.

But emailing UBER will help on this concern, a support will look on it and going to reinstate your account after a few hours and you can now use your debit card in UBER Manila.

Notice: Again i think every debit card will work as long as you successfully add the debit card on your account, and if it says deem invalid, then contact uber right away, so they can reinstate your account. Just make sure you have enough balance to cover a ride. To be safe you need at least P500 on that debit card, so you won't have any trouble in the future.

Hi guys are you receiving a few ride request lately and or you are experiencing a horrible and unimaginable cannot log in because the time and date isn't updated error?

Well unfortunately majority of the uber partners are experiencing this problem, as of asking with majority of the partners they are all experiencing the same, so you are not alone.

Fortunately for some of us we have a backup phone (mine's an iphone 5s) and i used it whenever i am experiencing technicalities on the mobile device that Uber manila have provided. It seems that there are errors we are experiencing is only for ASUS Zenfone 5 and C, the system isn't compatible to those device.

Partners who are using other android devices aren't experiencing this problem. It really seems that this error can't be fixed right away, even though UBER engineers are doing their job to fix this problem, it may not be permanent and we will still experience this in the long run.

I think the best thing to do is to invest on another android phone, a cheap one but reliable. Hey it's business, and you don't want to loose 80% of your income because of an error on the provided device? Yes sometimes it is best to invest for those goodies if it can help our business, but if you don't, then you'll be left behind and loose profit.

Yesterday, I believe we all have received an SMS from UBER that there's a problem and their engineers are fixing it. After a few hours we have received another SMS containing that their engineers already fixed the problem. Yes for the first hour it works perfectly fine, but after another hour, here comes the problem again flashing in and out.

Imagine those hours, there are clients we are loosing, if we loose clients, then we loose money, not only that, we are also wasting our time and of course GAS. It is like you are on the road, wearing off your car and nothing is happening. What about if you are in a quota for the incentives, how frustrating it is if you can't meet the quota or complete the quota because of this problem? How much do you think you will loose?

I am just concerned since i have a friend who's in the verge of loosing his car because of this problem, i tried reaching out with uber, but they insist that the problem is fixed, i guess if majority do complain then they'll do another action to fix it, but we cannot get back what we have lost. I am just suggesting that we need to invest on another mobile phone which is reliable and cheap.

Hi guys. I know that i shouldn't be posting something like this as some will feel that this is just attracting negativity but since we are talking about business here i might as well as point this out.

Remember the news before about the newly acquired toyota vios and the operator's car were stolen by his driver on its first day of work? ( you can read the article here ) Well till now there is no update if the car is found or if the thief was already caught. But one thing for sure, we should invest on security for our business.

I am browsing some news at the moment and i found out that there are hackers selling uber rider accounts for $1 to $5 each ( read the article here ) meaning sooner or later, UBER can be targeted by car jackers or sort.

There's nothing wrong to invest for security, especially if this is for our business. I myself did invest for a gps tracker with a killing switch just by texting it just in case those things happen to me.

Yes i might sound like i am selling this product to you ( i am just really promoting it for your business security, and yes i will earn 3% if you buy one of these through here ) but there's no harm by trying. There's a popular saying that, it's better than be safe than be sorry later.

I bought this MGPS anti theft tracking device and went to an auto shop (Cruven) and had them install it. It took them about 30 minutes to install this gps tracker. What i like about it than any other gps trackers out there is that this gps has a full package like of those high end gps trackers, here are some of the features of this gps tracker

- Monitors location of vehicle and sends location directly to your phone and you can open on your maps app (waze, google maps and etc).

- anti-carjack feature allows you to shut-off vehicle engine with text from your phone - great peace of mind in case of theft

- accurate gps location ( can pin point the exact location )

This gps tracker is compatible to any vehicle on the Philippines (taxi, delivery trucks/vans and etc.)

If you want to protect your car and your business, i am suggesting that you invest on this.

If you still haven't got one and you find your self in trouble, just be calm and try to remember this.

- Don't argue, give them what they want

- Be calm ( i know this would be hard, but being calm is the best position when you experience something like this)

- Value your life, don't fight back, let them be and just report to the police once you are already in a safe position.

A little experimentation

Hi guys, it's been a while. I haven't posted for a while since i am doing a little experimentation on how to reduce the driving time but can still get the results of driving 15hrs a day into 8hrs a day. Yes this might help alot of new UBER partners/driver here in Manila and want to share this so it could help them on starting this ridesharing business here in Manila Philippines.

On my phase one, since i am used to driving 4pm onwards, i had a hard time adjusting my time frame and for my first few days, of course i failed.

But definitely by writing this, i had listed my errors so that you guys could avoid it.

If you have been reading my blog, you'd know that i preach smart driving is much better than driving hard. It is true in order for you to earn here in UBER Manila. Anyways here are my notes on what to do on driving in the morning shift for 8 hrs and still get 10-15 trips a day.

I will just list 3 but i have 15 notes and the other most important part will be just available for the partners who joined under my referral code. If you are one of them, please don't hesitate to email me through theflightpod@gmail.com

1. If you are driving at morning shift, do avoid the surges. We know how lucrative the surge is but by going to a surge area, you'll face the most horrific incident in your driving career and that is the Traffic. You'll loose more money than what you can earn plus you'll most the most important thing in your career and that's the time. Imagine spending 3 hrs on 1 passenger on which you can get 3-4 passengers outside the surge? (I have listed the best location outside the usual route and it is available for my referrals).

2. Stay away on major roads, use shortcut. Believe me and try this, you'll be amazed on the result. The purpose of this is not by shortening the time, but a chance passenger might be on that area.

3. Do not, i repeat do not wait near the shopping malls from 10am to 3pm. You'll have a low chance of getting a passenger and you'll definitely just loose a lot of your valuable time.

Again i have 12 more on my list but this will only available for my referrals. I am pretty sure these 3 list will enlighten you and could definitely save your business in the long run.
