New Security Feature of Uber Partner App

Just in case you missed it, Uber Manila had rolled out a new security features (more of a measure) for partners (drivers). This new security feature will secure the Uber system for fraudulent activities such as sharing of a driver account to complete the required trips for the incentives.

What is the new security feature for Uber Manila?

It's the real time ID check. Once in a while when you receive a request for a trip, the driver app will run the security feature. Before you can accept the trip you must take a selfie. Then the app will send your selfie to the fraud department to compare it to your saved file (driver's license, nbi clearance, and etc).

If the fraud department of the Uber Manila team determined that you are of course doing fraud, you'll be banned from the system and they will retract all of your pending income. This new feature will help partners like us who's honest and hardworking to provide an honest service to our passengers.

Just want to let you guys know that this security feature will ask a realtime ID check randomly so it may bear a little inconvenience for some especially to partners (driver's) who are not really on the techy side, so we really are advising their operators to train them or let them know about this new feature.

We always receive questions about this topic and I guess it's better to left an answer than receiving the same questions over and over again.

I guess the most popular question we receive is which has a larger income, Uber X or Uber Black? Well for us this will really still depend on how efficient your driver is but for real, Uber Black still has the best income opportunities than the Uber X.

Uber X at the moment is doing okay but being saturated with a lot of partners than the passengers (market) it's become harder and harder to at least earn a lot compared to 2 years ago. The incentives for Uber X at the moment are not appealing for some but still driving for an Uber X service can still produce a decent income.

Uber Black at the moment is doing good than before, even when the rate cut was approved it has increased its market yet can be compared much better than the Uber X. The average income per trip for Uber Black in Uber Manila is around P180-220 per trip (for a 2km-4km trip) and that could take around 30 mins of travel time on a rush hour or peak hour trips,

Why We Drive On Weekends

We've been busy for the past few weeks because we are focusing on our California fleet. We have received a lot of questions but we decided to remain silent till we get back on our track for Uber Manila.

As of the moment, we know what is happening there are a lot of apprehensions and there are also some crazy odd/even schemes on some cities which did have a large effect on the business. Honestly, even our drivers are now complaining about the odd/even as it had reduced our income for at least 3% for a week and this is really a big hunch.

We instructed our drivers to hold on while we are creating a strategy that can at least sustain our expenses and maintain their income but one of our drivers had suggested since the current incentives is for a weekday and weekend promotion that we should at least target the weekend promo instead.

Why We Drive on Weekends For Uber Manila

Honestly when we saw the weekend promotion, we were talking about it and saying that "is this really doable?" imagine 70 trips within 3 days? but upon testing it out, it is but still on a margin that you as a driver should sacrifice a lot of your time for your family.

We did try it and here's what we did. We let our drivers rest during the weekdays and let them drive all out on the weekends. The amount of trips they accumulated or completed is just the same as when they are driving on weekdays but without the pure hassle, below are few of the reasons why we decided to drive just on weekends now that the whole week.

1. There's no odd/even schemes

We can freely focus on completing the required trips on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) because there's no odd/even schemes unlike on weekdays (Mon-Fri) which is a really big pain in the ass.

2. Trips are much faster compared to weekdays.

Our data shows that you can complete a trip within 10-15 mins the shortest compared to a weekday's 1hr to 1hr and 30 mins.

3. There's no apprehension

90% of the time we feel safe to drive on weekends because simply there's no apprehension. We are safe and we can focus on our goals.

4. There's no major traffic on weekends

Well that's one of the perks when driving on weekends. There's no major traffic like rush hour compared to weekdays.
