It's becoming alarming that the rise of crimes to partners/drivers is increasing. It's been always a safety issue when you drive for Grab and UBER Manila. Since its start in the Philippines, concerns like these are always been around the corner.
Just recently, a decorated/highly commended Grab driver had been killed by robbers who pose as passengers. This could have been prevented if TNC's are also taking care of its partners. We all know that TNC's mission is to provide an alternative transportation that can give convenience and safety to passengers and that's why the majority of the commuting public transitioned to Uber and Grab but are the driver's safe?

What should the TNC needs to do to protect its partners
One of our concern in Uber Manila is when they also took the opportunity to accept a cash basis payment, that this thing could happen sooner or later. We do hope that the TNC's hear our plead to make both passengers and driver's safe in every situation.
We are sure atm Grabcar is working hand in hand with the authorities to solve what had happened to their peers but honestly, this shouldn't take long if only TNC's had done something beforehand like the ff below.
- Before a rider/passenger's account gets activated they should at least provide 2 valid ID's
- The passenger needs to have at least a debit card
- New accounts should be referred by passengers who at least rode more than 20 times.
This isn't the whole solution, but the above could at least lessen the problem. We will be explaining how those things could help us partners/drivers in terms of safety.
1. We all know that cash basis passengers can create an account with any sim card. Robbers/Car nappers will likely be using a fake name/info so if ever they try to steal or do crime even if the authority traces the number and info they'll be looking for a blank clue. This could be prevented if only TNC's will also ask 2 valid Id's to its passengers before their account gets activated.
2. Debit card - yes we all know that everyone now can have a debit card esp like paymaya. But even before that type of virtual/physical debit card gets activated they still need to provide identification and etc.
Banks also do offer debit card and most likely they will also need info before they can open a bank account.

3. For new passenger accounts, if they don't want to provide those kinds of identification, at least before they get activated he/she should be referred by a user of the said TNC company. This could mean that the one who referred the new account is more on a personal relationship like close friends, co-workers, family and etc. that could help make the community safe.
Again, we like to apologize if this article isn't written well. For partners like us, we do hope you guys could understand our point of making the community safer especially for us partners/drivers. We would like to appeal to TNC's to at least think about the suggestions because without us drivers you guys won't succeed.
So what do you guys think? If you have other suggestions please do comment it below, and we'll be making a list to submit it to uber Manila and hopefuly they can re-evaluate or assess our concern on the right department.
